Hi All,

I am a new San Diegan (as of May), and am FINALLY insured and in the process of getting accepted as a new patient with Dr. Mueller (waiting for him to review my file). I actually started my new insurance July 1 but had a few bumps along the way (waited a month to meet with someone at UCSD and found out they want cash for every adjustment and refuse to bill insurance for it - grrr....), and have been waiting a month to hear from Dr. Mueller. However, I've heard great things about this program and I'm hoping to get the ball rolling soon!

In the meantime, I've been far from perfect with my eating but have pretty much maintained on my own the past few months (up 2 down 2). As of August 22nd, I'm officially 1 year post-op, with a 10CC AP band, and am at about 6cc's filled. I've been getting a bit too much in lately (1 1/2 to 2 cups), and have been grazing, but happily, I'm maintaining.

Now that I'm settling in to my new city, it's time to get my head back in the game and I'm hoping to get in for a fill and start fresh. In the meantime, I did find the "back on track" post and have printed it up, so I'm going to try to do it on my own and see if I can get back to losing.

So far, I've lost about 87 lbs (from 286 to just under 200 lbs), and I'd like to get down to at least 180, if not less (160's would put me into the "normal" BMI range). I do feel terrific, and can't wait to see where this takes me in the long run!

Anyway, I'm going to try to get out to these forums on a regular basis, and will hopefully be able to make an occasional support group (it's tricky making it over to one and then home to get the pooch out).

If you're still reading, thanks for checking it out!

    In response to DK

Hi there and welcome to San Diego. I haven't been on this forum in ages and it looks like no one else has either.. :-(

I am a patient of Dr. Mueller.. Almost 5 years out with an RNY.. My biggest piece of advice is to stay involved in some sort of support group - whether it be a group of friends who have all had surgery, online support, or an 'in person' support group. We all think when we get to a certain point that we have it all down, but we will ALWAYS need help and support so don't get so busy that you forget to take care of you!
