A year ago, I weighed 248 pounds At five-foot-three, I was morbidly obese --- more than 100 pounds over my ideal weight. I pretended to be happy, but inside I was miserable. Finally, I made the decision to have gastric bypass surgery. I began attending the surgical seminars for various bariatric practices in San Diego so that I could gather more information about the procedure. The Program at Sharp Memorial was my choice from the moment I attended their free seminar. I instantly felt comfortable and confident with the staff and surgeon who were there that evening. I was amazed at the detail of their program and the caring nature of everyone involved. I didn.t feel like a number--- I felt like a cared-for individual whose best interest was at the heart of every decision made by the people associated with the program. I had surgery on November 17, 2003, with Dr. George Mueller. In thirteen months I lost 110 pounds! I have lost two-shoe sizes--going from a 9.5 to a 7.5. I have actually gained an inch in height. I am now five-foot-four for the first time in my life---and I.M really walking tall. I have slimmed down from a huge size 22/24 to a petite 6/8. I can walk up stairs, carry on a conversation, and not be out of breath. I can run.I can ride my bike.I can do whatever I want. I can.t say enough about the doctors, their support staff and their program. They assisted me every step of the way. No matter what time of day or night, there is always someone who is available to help. Thank you, Dr. Mueller and staff, for giving me back my life.
